The Web of Wyrd is a very interesting symbol, and though not quite as ancient as the Elder Futhark runes, this symbol contains the line work where all 24 of the runes can be seen within it. The Vikings also believed that fate was a web or tapestry, spun by the Norns. The Norn sisters were actually the inspiration behind the three witches in Shakespeare's Macbeth. The Web of Wyrd evokes images of the weave of a fabric and thus further reinforces the concept of fate.
