Turning 36: A New Moon, A New Phase

Turning 36: A New Moon, A New Phase

This Wednesday, January 29th, marks a significant day for me: my 36th birthday. Birthdays always feel like a time for reflection, but this one feels uniquely special. Not only does it bring me into a new phase of life, but it also coincides with the new moon—a powerful symbol of fresh beginnings and setting intentions. To top it off, this year carries the energy of the number 9, a number of completion, transformation, and stepping into what’s next.

Embracing 36: Growth and Reflection

Turning 36 feels like standing at the crossroads of wisdom gained and dreams yet to be fulfilled. These past years have been filled with lessons—some hard, some joyful—but all essential in shaping who I am today. Stepping into this new year feels like shedding an old skin. I’m leaving behind what no longer serves me, embracing the growth I’ve earned, and daring to imagine what comes next.

This birthday feels even more symbolic as it aligns with the new moon. In the lunar cycle, the new moon is a time of intention-setting and planting seeds for the future. I can’t think of a better cosmic alignment for entering this phase of life. It’s as if the universe is saying, “This is your time to dream big and start fresh.”

A Nine Year: Completion and Transformation

Numerologically, this is a 9 year because the digits of 2025 add up to nine. It is a year of endings and new beginnings. The number 9 represents completion, not in the sense of finality but in the sense of culmination. It’s a time to reap the rewards of past efforts, to release what has run its course, and to prepare for a new cycle.

Aligning Life and Business

In my business, this energy resonates deeply. Over the last year, I’ve faced many changes, challenges, and moments of clarity that have reshaped how I approach my work. I’ve spent time redefining what I want my shop to be, what I want it to represent, and how I want it to align with my life and values. It’s been a process of letting go—of perfection, of unnecessary stress, of products and practices that didn’t serve my vision—and making space for what truly resonates.

As I launch into this next phase of life, I’m also launching into a new phase for my business. Just as I’m stepping into my 36th year with intention, I’m approaching my shop with the same mindset. This year, I’m committed to focusing on collections that feel more aligned with my creative voice and purpose. I’m letting go of the need to be everything to everyone and instead embracing the magical, meaningful designs that I love most.

The timing of my "Roots and Wings" collection feels serendipitous. This collection is inspired by themes of grounding and transformation—roots that anchor us and wings that help us rise. These ideas mirror my own journey as I step into 36. Just as this collection explores the balance between stability and freedom, I find myself embracing those same dualities in my life and business. It’s a reminder to stay connected to what grounds me while daring to pursue new heights and possibilities.

Setting Intentions for 36

This year, I’m setting intentions for balance, authenticity, and trust. I want to cultivate a life that feels whole and aligned, where my work supports my life, not the other way around. I’m stepping into 36 ready to embrace the energy of the number 9, to let go of what I’ve outgrown, and to create space for something new to flourish.

As the new moon rises on my birthday, I’ll light a candle, write down my intentions, and breathe in the magic of this moment. It’s a time for beginnings, for hope, and for stepping into the next chapter of both my life and my business.

Here’s to 36, to new moons, and to the endless possibilities of what’s to come.
